Let's say, for purposes of this demonstration of an e-learning expedition, that Your Organization's leaders have set the course for an organization-wide e-business strategy. The Organization has adopted a new direction, with a renewed commitment to continuing profitability and global unity as an organization. Perhaps at a recent senior management meeting, the decision to pursue an e-business strategy became official. Or, perhaps Your organization is still exploring the idea.

During the expedition to Canada, participants will (a summary of your agenda goes here). Visits to remarkable Canadian companies will stimulate each participant's thinking and illustrate the strategies followed by these organizations to succeed as effective e-businesses.

This learning expedition is innovative in its design. It will take place both face to face and here, in cyberspace. To further Your Organization's progress toward becoming an e-business, expedition participants will raise their level of skill in using the Internet to enhance learning, performance, involvement, and retention of information and insight. By immersing ourselves in an e-education experience, you will become more of an e-business.

Participants will experience the learning expedition on three different levels:

  • Before the expedition, they will visit a specially designed Web site, like this one, about the learning expedition. They will provide input themselves by completing a Web-based survey about their individual expectations for learning outcomes.
  • Then they will attend the expedition face to face and capture their impressions online.
  • Following the face-to-face portion of the expedition, they will resume their online activities, beginning right away with online discussions of key issues. Then, a few weeks after the trip, participants will have an opportunity to access a Web-based report (visit summaries, meeting minutes, photographs, perhaps videos, and more). Participants will also be able to interact online with the content of the learning expedition.

This process will raise everyone's level of understanding about how an e-business operates. The participants will acquire the online communication skills necessary to build an effective e-culture.
